On the Blog: Get To Know Aly
We met Aly on a summer day in Kelowna, BC and immediately fell in love with her bubbly, care-free personality, her ability to light up a room, and of course, her signature freckles. Within 5 minutes, she felt like a close friend - a trait that is rare to come by. We spent the day in the Okanagan orchards and wineries shooting our Linen Essentials Collection. Never without a laugh, she pulled us through the afternoon with her cheeky jokes and quirky dance moves. Aly was a delight to work with and we can’t wait to create with her again!

Tell us a bit about yourself? How did you get to where you are today?
.
Growing up I had a disability called Severe Femoral Anteversion that resulted in having a double osteotomy at the age of 14. The surgery involves every bone in both of my legs being broken and relocated. Growing up with little freedom and being confined to a wheelchair as well as having heart, kidney and lung failure at a young age I learnt a lot about how to make every step matter. By the end of grade 11 I was able to walk and moved out on my own, jumping around from city to city every few months and after graduating college decided to immerse myself in a different culture by moving to Bali for a year. Today I'm getting ready to move to Mexico with no plans, excited to learn and grow.

Mornings are my favourite. I love knowing that I have the chance to add value for someone in a tangible way. I really enjoy walking around and understanding that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as my own.. And coffee.

Walk us through a typical day for you.
There really isn't a typical day. I don't like to make a lot of plans and I move to a new city every few months so I don't have much of a routine. Typically involves doing something active and being extremely social.
What does the next chapter of your life look like?
I like to live moment by moment and really enjoy the unknown. I would love to plant roots somewhere and unpack my suitcase but by no means am I ready to just "settle".

Tell us about your wardrobe staple.
A set. A blazer and a pair of dress pants can be dressed up or down for any occasion.

Who/What Inspires you?
The Balinese, they are the kindest, most caring and selfless humans in the world. Their lives revolve around Karma and doing good to others.
